📘 Meaning & Usage
The structure Noun + の + Noun is used to connect two nouns. It indicates possession, relationship, origin, or category. Think of it like the English “‘s” or “of”.
Structure:
Noun1 + の + Noun2
- Noun2 is what you’re talking about
- Noun1 modifies Noun2 (owner, type, origin, etc.)
Common uses:
- Possession: わたしの くるま (my car)
- Family or relationships: せんせいの こども (the teacher’s child)
- Origin or belonging: にほんの たべもの (Japanese food)
- Category: おちゃの カップ (tea cup)
