📘 Meaning & Usage
The grammar structure になる is used to express a change of state — when something or someone “becomes” something else. It’s commonly used with nouns and adjectives.
Structure:
- Noun + に + なる – become [a noun]
- な-adjective + に + なる – become [adjective]
- い-adjective (change い → く) + なる – become [adjective]
💡 Example Sentences
1. Noun + に + なる
- せんせいに なりたいです。
I want to become a teacher. - 6じに なりました。
It became 6 o’clock.
2. な-adjective + に + なる
- へやが きれいに なりました。
The room became clean. - にほんごが じょうずに なりました。
I became good at Japanese.
3. い-adjective + く + なる
- さむく なりました。
It became cold. - このまちは にぎやかに なりました。
This town became lively.
📝 Grammar Notes
- Use に before なる with nouns and な-adjectives.
- For い-adjectives, change the い to く and add なる (not に).
