📘 Meaning & Usage
まだ has two main meanings:
- Still – something is continuing (used with affirmative form)
- Not yet – something has not happened yet (used with negative form)
It’s a very common and useful expression in daily Japanese.
🔍 Structure
- まだ + affirmative verb → still doing
- まだ + negative verb → not yet
📝 Example Sentences
- まだ たべています。
Mada tabete imasu.
I’m still eating. - まだ あめが ふっています。
Mada ame ga futte imasu.
It’s still raining. - まだ おきていません。
Mada okite imasen.
I haven’t woken up yet. - まだ しゅくだいを していません。

📚 Grammar Notes
- まだ + affirmative = “still”
- まだ + negative = “not yet”
